Shine like a Diamond - Diamond Bar High School

Jacob Lee Diamond Bar High School 10th Grade

was founded in 1982, the first high school in the growing city whose name it bears. It belongs to the Walnut Valley Unified School District, which was established in 1970. Its first students were residents of Diamond Bar who lived south of Grand Avenue. A dividing line that still exists. Diamond Bar High has a relatively rigorous and competitive atmosphere. It ranks 219th on the US News’s list of Best High Schools in the nation and 39th on the best California high schools.

Programs offered include the Pathways Communications Academy (which allows alternate and different courses and class schedules), the Brahma Tech Academy (an academic diploma program with a focus on the relevance and application of STEM - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), extracurriculars such as the FIRST Robotics Team 3473, and more. The school treasures the idea of being a National Blue Ribbon School known for its academic rigor, outstanding activities, and excellence in all areas of campus life. It also also placed #455 in National Rankings, #123 among STEM High Schools, #62 in California High Schools, and it holds a 97% graduation rate.

Many alumni have gone on to enjoy successful careers after graduating. Examples ranging from Jonathon Amaya who plays professional football for the Miami Dolphins, to Ling Ling Change who is a state senate member. Diamond Bar High is led by many integral people who joined together to form what the school is now.

One such person is Mr. Patterson, a guidance counselor who helps students plan their future. His story alone is something truly unique. While he has had many memorable moments throughout his career, he insists that his best moments were in just being able to have a hand in preparing kids to grow up into adults ready to face the real world. The school is also known for pioneering its Wellness Center, award-winning Performing Arts programs, and Advanced Placement Programs. Our student-led Wellness Center, three-story Instrumental Music building (set to open in the Fall of 2022), and state-of-the-art Science Classrooms are testaments to the innovation and excellence on our campus.

Students are constantly involved in a variety of clubs, the performing arts, CIF athletics, community service, and student-leadership. We value student autonomy, positive relationships, service for others, and life-long learning. Diamond Bar High School celebrates the partnership it has with our students, parents, and the school benefits from our active, engaged, and supportive community.
