[San BBQ] 51-Year Legacy of ‘San’… Relocates to Koreatown Plaza 3 Floor
Since opening in 1974 in LA’s Koreatown, the Korean restaurant ‘San (山)’ has marked 51 years of history and announced a new leap forward. The original ‘San’ and ‘San Noodle’ have merged into an upgraded ‘San BBQ,’ now open at Koreatown Plaza, breathing fresh life into Korean BBQ culture.

‘San BBQ’ occupies a spacious and comfortable 4,500-square-foot area, blending traditional and modern vibes with a sleek, contemporary interior. Notably, it introduces a cutting-edge ventilation system—the first of its kind in a Korean restaurant in the U.S.—dramatically reducing meat odors clinging to clothes, allowing customers to dine with ease and confidence.
Its location within Koreatown Plaza is a major perk, eliminating parking worries. Ample and convenient parking ensures easy access for families and large groups, earning steady praise.

‘San BBQ’ combines the 51-year tradition of ‘San’ and ‘San Noodle’ to offer a diverse menu. Using premium top-grade meat, fresh green onions, onions, and a meticulously prepared anchovy broth, it delivers deep, rich flavors in both gukbap (soup with rice) and BBQ. The steamed egg made with anchovy broth is a standout delicacy.
The BBQ features marbled, high-quality beef brisket, while lean, nutrient-rich brisket is used in soups, satisfying both taste and health needs. All meats are thick, fresh, and offered at reasonable prices without a “special price” tag, earning the trust of loyal customers.

‘San BBQ’ adheres to the authentic Korean culinary tradition of 51 years, avoiding fusion. It uses no MSG, minimizes salt and sugar, and focuses on highlighting the natural flavors of ingredients. This commitment is the pride and competitive edge of ‘San’ after 51 years.
Operating hours are consistently 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with BBQ service starting at 4 p.m. Since its soft opening on April 8, weekends have seen wait times exceeding an hour due to soaring popularity.

Notably, the olive oil-based jjajang (black bean sauce) dish, made without sugar, has become a popular menu item, offering a clean, savory taste that appeals to all ages, adding shine to ‘San BBQ’s’ diverse lineup.
‘San BBQ’ establishes itself as a space to experience authentic Korean BBQ and gukbap culture, blending traditional broth, premium meat, and abundant ingredients. It is poised to remain a beloved staple in LA’s Koreatown.
