Execution-Style Murders in the Heart of Koreatown
A wave of concern has swept over Koreatown as two execution-style shootings, resulting in two deaths, occurred in just one day. The incidents have raised fears about safety in the area.

The first incident took place in a residential area near Olympic and Crenshaw, known for its high concentration of Korean residents. A Hispanic man was found dead on the street in a daytime shooting. About six hours later, a Hispanic woman was discovered dead in a car on 8th Street and Berendo, roughly two miles from the first crime scene.

The suspect, an African American man, later turned himself in to the police. He was charged with murder in connection to both incidents. According to the LAPD, at approximately 4:30 PM on the 29th, the first shooting occurred near 900 Victoria Avenue, where the 43-year-old male victim was found shot. The suspect allegedly followed the victim on an electric bike, intentionally struck him with his car, and shot him multiple times.

The second incident was reported at 10:30 PM in Koreatown, where a 38-year-old woman was found in the passenger seat of a parked car with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, Marvin Magana (50), later surrendered at the 77th Street station and confessed to shooting his partner, linking him to both murders.
