뉴베벌리 시네마는 4월30일까지 50~60년대 유행했던 폭력적이요 섹시하며 또 유혈과 공포와 벌거벗은 여체가 눈요깃거리를 제공했던 싸구려 영화들을 수십 편 상영한다.
소위 ‘그라인드하우스’ 영화들이라 불렸던 이 영화들은 너무 엉터리여서 재미가 있는 것들로 이번에 상영되는 영화들은 모두 ‘그라인드하우스’ 영화의 광적 팬인 쿠엔틴 타란티노 감독이 소장한 것들이다. ‘그라인드하우스’(Grindhouse)는 이런 싸구려 영화들을 하루에 세편씩 상영하던 극장을 말한다. 4월 하순에는 타란티노가 직접 극장에 나와 영화를 소개한다. 7165 Beverly Blvd. (323)938-4038.
