“Sanctuary cities” refer to localities that either do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement or outright prohibit such cooperation. These cities are often led by Democratic officials.

Homan also noted that undocumented immigrants without criminal records who are encountered during enforcement actions will also be detained and deported.

“There will be more collateral arrests in sanctuary cities because they force us to enter communities to locate our targets,” Homan said.

Detained undocumented immigrants will be held in custody and subsequently deported to their home countries or third countries, he explained.
