The Federal Taekwondo Association (FTA), led by President Edward Sung, is organizing a seminar in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The seminar aims to address cyberbullying, substance abuse, school bullying, and hate crime prevention and response. Targeted at active Taekwondo instructors, the event focuses on equipping them with practical strategies to ensure the safety and mental well-being of their students.

Established in 2021 as a nonprofit organization, FTA was founded by active Taekwondo instructors committed to contributing to society through martial arts. The organization’s primary goals include promoting public welfare, conducting nationwide community service, and fostering a supportive network among instructors. The FTA welcomes members regardless of region, age, or ethnicity, emphasizing impactful community support and positive change.

During the seminar, attendees will learn about the definition of cyberbullying and effective countermeasures. Key speakers, including Ben Park, President of the Korean American Law Enforcement Organization (KALEO), and LAPD officers, will provide expert insights on legal procedures and practical prevention techniques. The training aims to enable Taekwondo instructors to offer concrete, meaningful support to children and teens.

FTA Vice President Kim Tae-jung stated, “Taekwondo is more than a martial art; it’s a holistic program that fosters character development, emotional stability, and self-confidence in children. Through collaboration with the LAPD, we hope instructors gain a deeper understanding of societal issues like school violence and gun incidents, helping them guide youth positively and contribute to creating safe schools and communities.”

The seminar will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 9:00 AM at the Olympic Community Police Station. Following the event, attendees and officers will receive lunch and commemorative T-shirts. Participation is limited to FTA members.
