Hyundai Becomes First Automaker to Sell Cars on Amazon
Hyundai has launched a groundbreaking service, allowing consumers to purchase vehicles directly through Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce platform.

On the 7th, Hyundai Motor America announced the official start of vehicle sales on Amazon’s website.

Hyundai initially revealed its plan to sell vehicles via Amazon during the 2023 LA Auto Show when it announced a strategic partnership with the platform. After more than a year of preparation, the two companies have established a system for selling cars through the Amazon Autos section.

Hyundai highlighted that it is the "first and currently the only brand" to offer its vehicles for purchase on Amazon Autos.

According to Hyundai, consumers across the U.S. can now select vehicles on Amazon Autos, easily secure financing, complete payments, and pick up their cars at a Hyundai dealership of their choice. Customers can search for vehicle models, trims, colors, and features available at dealerships, then complete their purchase quickly through a simple process involving a few clicks. This process includes securing financing options and electronically signing documents. Hyundai emphasized that this streamlined process offers transparent and inclusive pricing, eliminating the need for price negotiations often associated with car purchases in the U.S.

Bloomberg reported that Hyundai expects online platform sales to account for 30% of its total U.S. sales by the end of the decade.

To promote its Amazon sales initiative, Hyundai plans to launch an extensive marketing campaign in the U.S., utilizing TV, online platforms, and social media. The campaign will focus on the ease of purchasing a car, featuring the slogan "Add to Cart."

Hyundai CEO José Muñoz, in an interview with Bloomberg TV, stated that the Amazon sales model aims to "reduce the time it takes to buy a car to just about 15 minutes." Muñoz added, "This reflects our efforts to redefine the future of car retailing and the way vehicles are marketed and purchased."
