The official inauguration ceremony for the new LAPD Chief was held on November 14 at the Los Angeles Police Academy. The event was attended by LA Mayor Karen Bass, former LAPD chiefs, and senior police officials. Interim Chief Dominic Choi, who has led the LAPD since the beginning of the year, handed over leadership to Jim McDonnell, the 59th Chief of Police. Choi has now returned to his position as First Assistant Chief.
